The official government, state, naval and war flag of the government of Saudi Arabia, this flag was first adopted in 1973  The writings are لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا الله مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ الله Which translate to "There is no god but God, Muhammad is the messenger of God". The green is symbolic of the religion of the people of Saudi Arabia, which is Islam. The sword is said to symbolize the house of Saud, the original founding group of Saudi Arabia
